Installation and requirements

Check these before you build a sound: Audity depends on a specific Unity version and on two Unity packages, and it runs on Unity’s Scriptable Audio Pipeline, which sets the platform floor.

Requirement Version / note
Unity 6000.5 or newer (hard floor - Audity uses the Scriptable Audio Pipeline, which does not exist on earlier LTS streams).
Scriptable Audio Pipeline (SAP) Required. It comes with Unity 6000.5; Audity compiles each graph to a Burst program that runs as an AudioSource.generator on SAP.
Burst com.unity.burst 1.8.18 - resolved automatically as a package dependency.
Collections com.unity.collections 2.5.4 - resolved automatically.
Mathematics Pulled in transitively (by Burst/Collections). You only reference it directly when you write a custom node.

You do not add Burst, Collections, or Mathematics by hand; importing Audity brings them in through its package manifest.

Audity will not compile or run on Unity versions before 6000.5, because the audio generator API it builds on is new in that release. State this to your team before installing: there is no back-port. If the Package Manager reports a compatibility error, the editor is too old.

Audity runs where both Burst and the Scriptable Audio Pipeline run, because every graph executes as Burst-compiled code on SAP’s audio thread.

  • Desktop standalone (Windows, macOS, Linux) - the validated baseline for v1.
  • Mobile (iOS, Android via IL2CPP) - supported by the underlying Burst/SAP stack; validate on your target device, as audio-thread budgets are tighter there. See Performance and limits.
  • WebGL - not supported. WebGL has no audio-thread generator path for SAP and restricts Burst, so a graph cannot run there.

Consoles and additional platforms are validated as the underlying stack certifies them; check the store listing for the current tested set before shipping to one.

Audity is a Unity package. However you receive it - from the Asset Store, or as a package added in the Package Manager - the install is the same:

  1. Import the package into a project on Unity 6000.5+.
  2. Let the Package Manager resolve com.unity.burst and com.unity.collections (it does this on import; no manual step).
  3. Wait for the first Burst compile to finish. The first play or audition in a fresh project pays a one-time Burst JIT cost; later plays are warm.

No scene setup, project settings, or define symbols are required.

  1. Menu present - Assets > Create > Audity lists Sound Graph, Sub Graph, Sample, Sample Set, and Batch Group. If the menu is missing, the package did not import.
  2. No console errors on import or on first graph open.
  3. A sound plays - follow the Quick start; a clip should audition from the graph window within a couple of minutes.

Your scene needs an Audio Listener to hear anything (Unity adds one to the Main Camera by default) - the same requirement as any Unity audio. If a graph auditions in the editor but is silent in play mode, the missing listener is the first thing to check.
