Installation
DarkEffekt Terminal is a Unity package. It needs Unity 6000.0 or newer, the Input System package, and the Unity UI package; Unity installs both as dependencies.
From the Asset Store
Section titled “From the Asset Store”Open Package Manager, choose My Assets, select DarkEffekt Terminal, and choose
Download, then Import. Import everything. The package lands under Packages as
com.darkeffekt.terminal.
Input System
Section titled “Input System”The package reads the keyboard and mouse through the Input System. If the project uses the Input Manager, Unity offers to enable the Input System backend when the package imports; accept it, and let Unity restart. To keep the Input Manager for other code, set Active Input Handling to Both in Player settings. A session in a project with the backend off logs a warning and takes no input.
Render pipeline
Section titled “Render pipeline”The package runs under URP and HDRP without a setting to change, and player
builds include its shaders and font on their own. Under
HDRP, a screen in the scene shows through HDRP/Unlit so the scene exposure
leaves it alone; if a build logs that HDRP/Unlit is missing, add it to Always
Included Shaders under Project Settings, Graphics.
The terminal renders with JetBrains Mono, bundled with the package, so text looks the same on every platform. To use another font, assign a monospace font asset on the Terminal Theme, or list OS font names to try first; see Themes and screen types.
Platforms
Section titled “Platforms”TcpConnection and TelnetConnection run on background threads and sockets.
On WebGL, reach a network host with WebSocketConnection or TtydConnection,
or drive the terminal with LocalProgramConnection.
Quick start puts a terminal on screen in a few minutes.
