SUB path

A single oscillator, one soft saturator, a level. Nothing else can be routed into this path, and its output is the same signal in both channels. That absence of features is the feature: whatever happens in the grind path, the fundamental of your bass is one mono waveform at a known level.

  • Wave: sine or triangle. The triangle adds odd harmonics for small speakers.
  • Octave: 0 plays the written note, -1 plays an octave below it.
  • Level (up to +12 dB): the sub against the grind bus. Fully down is silence.
  • Saturation: a static soft curve. A little of it reads as level on small speakers without eating headroom.
  • Rel Offset (0 to 500 ms): lets the sub ring past the grind’s release.
  • Knock (0 to 100%): the attack macro. It blends a short pitch drop on the sub (up to an octave at full Knock, gone within 5 to 30 ms) with a burst of the grind path’s output, filter and shaper included, at the very front of the note, onto this bus. Small amounts give the note a front edge that survives small speakers. For a kick, use it with Drop in the GRIND path, which drops the grind the same way; the two together make the whole sound fall rather than just the bottom.
  • Sub Tilt lives with the grind’s tilt and their shared pivot, under MOD.
