Registering, the trial, and updates

Click the status line at the top right of the window.

Your license

Your license arrives by email as a small file, GrindSub.license, stamped with your name. The same email carries the license as text too, so you can register three ways:

• Drop the file onto the plugin window. This works at any time, in the trial or once you are already registered.
• Register… on the status-line menu opens a dialog with a Load file… button and a paste field. Pick the .license file, or paste the text from the email; line breaks from mail clients make no difference.

Once registered, the status line shows your name. The license works offline for good, on any machine you own, so back the file up and keep it. Lost it? Recover it any time at darkeffekt.com/store/recover, or reply to the license email, and it is re-sent.

The trial

The trial is 14 days of use: the full instrument, not a crippled demo. The clock counts only the days you actually open the plugin, so a week you leave it alone costs you nothing. When the days run out, your projects still open and every setting is preserved; the instrument is silent until you register, and buying brings the sound back with the project intact.

Updates

• Check for updates… opens a page in your browser listing releases newer than your build, filtered to your platform and format. GrindSub itself never connects to the internet: there is no account and no activation server, and nothing phones home.

• Show presets folder opens the folder your presets are saved in, creating it the first time:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/DarkEffekt/GrindSub/Presets/
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\DarkEffekt\GrindSub\Presets\

  Reinstalling or updating never touches your presets or your license.
